Windows 8 Developer Camp @ Microsoft in Singapore
Last Friday, Pork ‘n’ Bunny headed back to Singapore from Melaka to attend the Windows 8 Developer Camp. It was a last minute registration but we’re quite glad we could make it and learnt a lot 🙂 By the way.. great view from the Microsoft office on level 21!
Microsoft employees lucky to have such stunning views every working day! We saw it from a sunny view to a stormy one! We also got breakfast – Asian & Western food.
I was surprised how many developers showed up (even girls!).
It was a very long session but I was very impressed with Microsoft’s development into making simple yet stylish interface with great consistency. I really the idea that you can use any languages (including HTML and CSS) to make a native Windows app. That is truly amazing and I believe this may help Windows produce a lot of apps in a short time. You can also potentially make the app all work in the cloud. Meaning, when using an app on one device and on your other device it will open the same activity/page you last opened.
However, the down side of developing for Windows is that you can only make G rated apps. The content policy is the most restrictive we’ve ever seen on any platform.
You can see the slides from Windows 8 Developer Camp here. See photos of the event here.
Random Stuff
I really like the interior of Microsoft. They had plain yet modern comfy couches, great colour theme, and the food was great! Pork said it was better than Google’s food! .. YIKES!!
